Pulkkinen earns Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Joseph’s College (Maine) guard Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, Maine) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. In a 1-1 week, Pulkkinen averaged 19.5 points per game and shot 81 percent from the free throw line. He chipped in 21 points and three rebounds in a 73-53 win over Husson and added 18 points in a loss to Colby. Pulkkinen, who is coached by Rob Sanicola, was named to The Maine Event All-Tournament Team.

 

Gaynor receives Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week award

 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of California-Santa Cruz senior forward Megan Gaynor (Sonoma, Calif.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. Gaynor scored 40 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in a pair of games at the Chapman University Tiger/Panther Tournament, en route an All-Tournament Team selection. She posted 19 points and 11 boards against Occidental College and followed that performance with a 21-point, eight-rebound effort versus Franklin College. Gaynor, who is coached by Nikki Turner, averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds on the week.

The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards program begins on September 11, 2006 and is based on nominations from the organization's member schools.
